GUIDING FROM JUSTMOUNTAINHOLIDAYS HAS NOW BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE HOLIDAY PACKAGE OFFERED DUE TO THE PROBLEMS FROM THE FRENCH LOCAL AUTHORITIES. THEY WILL NOT ALLLOW US TO GUIDE NOW WITHOUT THE FRENCH QUALIFICATIONS.
BUT WE CAN RECONMEND A LOCAL FRENCH GUIDE FOR YOU AND YOUR PARTY
Our Staff
Our mountain staff now hold the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Association's highly regarded Mountain Bike Leader Award. The Courses and assessments were organised by Cycle wise Training Limited in the Lake District.
Beginners
As part of our guiding programme we will take you along the easier routes to get you used to the riding in the area. Because there is such a vast amount of riding here it’s easy to find you a trail that you will enjoy – we even have beginner Downhill tracks, jumps and mini north shore.
Female riders
As we have many female guests who come to stay with us, we are keen to cater to their riding needs- from taking an easy cruise in the morning and relaxing at the pool in the afternoon – to blasting about with the rest of the group or even taking part in one of our women’s specific “ride with a pro week” – details to follow.
Progression
At the start of your holiday, our guides will ask is there a specific skill you would like to work on. From front wheel lifts over water ditches, drops, jumps and riding North Shore style trails. The guide will demonstrate the simplest way for you to learn. Our guide will also have a video camera (and helmet cam) to film the day’s events up the mountain. This is a great way to “see” how you are riding and to help improve your skills.
Cross Country
It’s more than just downhill here! Ok yes we do use the lifts, but this is to save time and energy! You’ll need it…….
Most of our guests have originally come from a XC background, but now with the added help of lifts and better bike/suspension technology they are looking for something a little more. Your time on the mountain is still spent showing you the best routes, but also working with you to help your riding skills develop.
The “Portes Du Soleil with around 350km of marked trails are just asking to be ridden. We can show you the best lung busting climbs, rocky descents, rooty forests, easy DH tracks, mini shore, and small jumps.
See some of our favourite routes below:
Col de Encrenaz
A super loop round Mont Cherie, wide flowing single track route, some up’s, some downs, amazing views. With the option of a short climb, but with a reward at the end!
Chapelle de Jacquicourt
Everyone’s favourite, a mix of fire road, single track and rooted woods – a must!
The Tour
Follow the same route as the Passportes du Soleil bike event, held here in June.
A massive loop of single track, fire roads, small climbs and long descents from Morzine to Avoriaz, Chatel, Morgins, Champoussan, Champery, Crosets, Avoriaz and back to Morzine for a cold one at Bar Robinsons.
Home run to Samoens
We can finish off a great day with a 1000m single track descent to the Samoens valley floor, another cold beer and the mini bus with specific bike trailer to whisk us back up to Morzine. Photo – bike trailer
