Girls: All Mountain Camp, ride better than your boyfriend!

Justmountainholidays, a specialist snowboard and ski chalet company, has got together with The Park, Morzine’s leading snowboard shop, to provide a new concept in snowboard camps. Not only will you have the best equipment to hire, but you’ll look good on the mountain too. We also have a great selection of female pro-riders for you to learn from, including Britain’s Number One female, Jenny Jones, Melanie Leando and newcomer Pippa Stowell.

We’ve put together a fantastic learning programme, where the focus is not ‘how fast’ or ‘how high’. During our week’s camp, you will refresh your basic technique, expand the skills you have acquired, and learn new ways to elevate your level of riding expertise. The emphasis is on all mountain riding and techniques for all terrain, so you’ll be learning what you want in a fun, friendly environment.

Our Playground

Recently the Portes du Soleil was awarded 'Ski Area of the year' by Document Snowboard Magazine. Whistler came second; Mammoth came third... pretty impressive!

The huge riding area will spoil you with its vast array of unreal terrain. Whether its trees, steeps, huge powder bowls, world class half pipes, snow parks, boarder cross tracks, natural wind-lips, or high speed pistes, we have it all. No other mountain offers the beauty and varied terrain of our playground.

Am I good enough?

As long as you can make turns down intermediate terrain then you are ready for the Jmh camp.

Overview of a Typical Week *

Day 1 – Monday
An easy cruise on blues and reds to help you find your legs and get your confidence up. The coaches will give you some tips on your general riding as the day goes on. Back at the chalet you will get a chance to practice spinning and grabs using our 12 foot trampoline. Once you can do them on the trampoline, you’ll be well prepared for the park sessions later on in the week.

Day 2 – Tuesday
This will be spent in Avoriaz, using the parks and pipes to work on some basic freestyle skills.

Day 3 – Wednesday
A day to practice the skills you have learnt so far and an optional snowboard servicing course at the end of the day. A chance for you to learn how to set up your equipment from the specialists at The Park – includes tips on adjusting your set up for varying terrain, caring for your equipment etc

Day 4 – Thursday
The camp moves into Switzerland for a freeride day. We will be riding in Les Crosets, plenty of natural bowls, gullies and wide open pistes to practice on in the morning and into the super park for the afternoon session.

Day 5 – Friday
Chatel; A freeride heaven, some of the best natural terrain there is! Windlips, drops, rollers, trees. If snow permits we will teach you how to build a kicker and session it. Take your new skills learnt in the parks to the mountain.

Day 6 – Saturday
The morning is up to you. We can just go for a blast or session the park for some practice ready for the camp finale in the afternoon. We will run a fun jam session where you get the chance to put together what you have learnt throughout the week, with on-the-spot prizes for everyone. This will be filmed and watched back at The Park’s coffee shop.

Extras that we include

As part of the package and to speed your progression we will film you up on the mountain, and then we’ll head back to The Park’s coffee shop in Morzine, to relax on the comfy sofas with a choice of speciality coffees and hot chocolates, whilst having a look at the day’s adventures. The instructors will be on hand to give advice and guidance and to answer any questions. You can also browse The Park’s new girlie shop next door for all the latest gear and fashion.

You’ll have the chance to try the latest boards from Burton, K2 & Option, available from The Park. As you improve you might want to step up to the next level and take out some of the women’s specific/freestyle boards which will really ensure, along with our expert tuition, that you get the most out of the week.

If you still have energy left in the evenings, we can take you out to the best bars in Morzine. Tuesday night is always a big one, with the weekly Cavern Bar fancy dress – we can let you know the theme before you come.

Overview of a Typical Week *

Day 1 – Monday
After a your daily cooked breakfast you will meet up with the coaches, discuss your riding level and talk about what you want to gain out of the week. The first day will involve the coaches looking at your riding, giving you some pointers and getting a vibe flowing through the group.

Day 2 – Tuesday
This will be spent in Avoriaz, using the parks and pipes to work on some basic freestyle skills, from basic ollies, grabs and spins. The coaches will use their experience to demonstrate the tricks and clearly explain to you how to do them. With the help of the video camera you can watch what you are doing right or wrong on the spot.

Day 3 – Wednesday
Staff day off – cruise day. But we will recommend where to ride and where to eat.

Day 4 – Thursday
The Jmh camp moves into Switzerland for a free ride – free style day. We will be riding in Les Crosets, an area now becoming a well respected boarding area. Plenty of powder bowls, gullies and wide open pistes to practice on in the morning and into the super park for the afternoon session. With an amazing selection of kickers, quarters, rails and hits, ranging from small, medium and pro size.

Day 5 – Friday
Free ride / Back country day
Free ride option – Over in the next valley from Avoriaz is an amazing riding area (Chatel Linga) a free ride heaven, some of the best natural terrain there is! Wind lips, drops, rollers, trees. If snow permits we will teach you how to build a kicker and session it. Take your new skills learnt in the parks to the mountain and practice the tricks you wouldn’t in the park.

Back country day – (extra charge for back country guide)
We can arrange a superb day out in the mountains with a local off piste guide, showing you some of the secret spots that you might not dare to find normally. The day will end with a mini bus pick up at the end of a valley (valley de la manche)

Day 6 – Saturday
The morning session is spent solely in the pipe in Avoriaz. You will learn how to drop in, get some air and pull some tricks. Those who can already ride the pipe will learn how to go bigger and learn new tricks.

The afternoon is a low key Jam session with just only our group, spread between the park & pipe, points and prizes are up for grabs. The whole session will be filmed and watched back in one of the bars or the chalet with some well deserved beers.

As part of the package we will film you up on the mountain, and then replay the footage back to the chalet with a beer or glass of wine to watch the day’s adventures.
